Oil manufacturer Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. has announced the release of a new heavy duty, synthetic engine oil for diesel truck engines.
The company states that it offers high performance combined with low viscosity.
DURON-E UHP 5W-30 has been shown to deliver protection for engines that is two times greater than that of rivals, while also producing a 4% improvement in fuel economy.
However, while the financial savings in terms of fuel economy that are offered by heavy duty engine oils (HDEOs) with low viscosity have long been recognised, it is vital that this does not come at the expense of engine durability.
This is why Petro-Canada placed this protection at the heart of the design process, with engine tests having demonstrated its ability to perform exceptionally well. Meanwhile, field tests have shown that the oil drains and engine protection it offers surpass all expectations.
As with other lubricants produced by the company, the 99.9% clear base oils utilised in the manufacture of DURON-E UHP 5W-30 are what helps prevent viscosity breakdown and oxidative thickening. Petro-Canada’s transportation oils category portfolio manager, Barnaby Ngai, added:
“The introduction of DURON-E UHP 5W-30 is an example of Petro-Canada Lubricants’ dedication to providing fleets with solutions that not only save money, but maximise the uptime and reliability of their operations where no compromise can be made.”
This new oil will be in competition with HDEOs like Mobil Delvac Super 1400 15W/40, which offers proven quality, but there seems little doubt that it will be a genuine rival.
