Metalworking

At Oil Store, we are proud to stock a range of lubricants that are perfectly suited to use in metalworking applications. We supply products that are designed for coolant monitoring, as well as cutting fluids and rust preventives.

Coolants require testing at regular intervals. This can be done by means of insertion, where a PH strip indicates the condition of the coolant by measuring the acidity – which is higher when the coolant contains a lot of decaying bacteria. Use of a refractometer is another way to test the strength of an emulsion, giving the user an accurate measure of dilution by indicating the water percentage present. A third method is to use dip slides to take a sample, which then undergoes controlled incubation to allow bacterial growth to be measured.

Some cutting fluids are specifically designed for use with metals containing iron. Such formulas often include corrosion inhibitors to protect against oxidation and rust. The fluids often also have excellent cooling, flushing, wetting capabilities, which are invaluable in operations that involve grinding.

Oil Store stocks coolant monitoring aids such as refractometers and incubators plus dip slide and PH sticks. We can also advise on the right cutting fluid or rust prevention formula for the required task, so why not place your order with us? If you require any guidance on your selection or have any questions regarding the products, please do get in touch with our expert team.
