US-based oil major Chevron has announced that it will be moving its headquarters to Houston, Texas from San Ramon in California, and will be making some changes to its senior management team.
Chevron’s Chairman and Vice Chairman, Mike Wirth and Mark Nelson, are set to relocate to Houston by the end of the year to be nearer fellow senior leaders. It is also expected to enhance their collaboration with business partners, executives and other employees.
Employees currently working in San Ramon will see minimal relocation initially, but the company is expecting to have migrated all its corporate functions to Houston within five years. Anyone supporting Chevron’s operations in California will stay in San Ramon.
The company, which makes the Texaco grease and lubricant range, also announced some changes in its top-management team. The company’s executive vice president for oil, products and gas, Nigel Hearne, will retire after 35 years at the company and be succeeded by Mark Nelson from October. The CEO and chairman of Chevron, Mike Wirth, said about this:
“Nigel’s contributions across the business and around the world have made Chevron a stronger company. He’s been an inspiring leader and mentor to many, and his accomplishments position our company for even more success in the future.”
Also retiring will be Rhonda Morris, the chief human resources officer, and Colin Parfitt, the vice president for midstream products like lubricants and chemicals, after 31 and 29 years of respective service to the company. Their duties will be taken over by Michelle Green and Andy Walz.
