Malaysia’s national gas and oil company, Petronas, is officially collaborating with global solar technology company, LONGi.

The two industry leaders have formalised working together with a strategic cooperation order, with the aim of expanding renewable energy projects in Asian-Pacific markets to support a low-carbon and more sustainable future.

While Petronas pursues activities involving traditional fossil fuels, it also has interest in renewables. The company has a subsidiary dedicated to clean energy solutions called Gentari, which provides integrated low-carbon alternatives across hydrogen, renewable energy and green mobility.

Petronas also operates a lubricant line that delivers an extensive array of products ranging from food safe gear oil for manufacturing operations to advanced antioxidant gas compressor oil.

LONGi shares many attributes with the strategic vision Petronas has developed, including pioneering technological capabilities, sustainability values and brand influence. Established in 2000, it is committed to serving as the world’s foremost solar technology company concentrated on delivering customer-focused value for complete energy transformation scenarios.

The recent order is a direct product of strategic synergy and consolidated trust developed over time. Built over a series of technical workshops and continuous high-level dialogue, LONGi’s cutting-edge product solutions obtained respect from both Petronas’s commercial and technical divisions.

Moving forward, Petronas and LONGi are dedicated to lifting their partnership beyond a supplier-buyer agreement. A core focus will be growing the working relationship between Petronas’s research team and LONGi’s Central Research Institute. This powerful alliance is engineered to advance innovation and develop top performing demonstration projects that highlight clean energy technology’s potential for the future.
