US energy corporation Chevron recently supplied $2.5 million in funding for a new development in Texas called the “Midland Athletic Syndicate Athletic Complex”.

The owner of the Texaco lubricant brand, Chevron, specialises in oil and gas, and while headquartered in California, operates both nationally and internationally.

A ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of construction back in October last year and work is now well under way. According to a press release issued by Chevron, it anticipates the new complex to open in spring 2026.

Chevron’s Vice President for its Mid-Continent Business Unit, Ryder Booth, commented on the new development:

“There is a need in our community for a facility like this. Midland’s largest demographic is children, and Chevron is proud to support high-quality facilities that support physical and mental health.”

Austen Campbell, President for the Midland Athletic Syndicate spoke out on Chevron’s generous donation. He stated that the syndicate is dedicated to providing an accessible and safe sports facility for young people living in the city, and added that Chevron’s gift has helped achieve this aim.

Once complete and open, the all-new complex will offer 100,000 square feet of space for a wide range of athletic activities. For example, there will be six basketball courts (full size) that can be converted into 12 volleyball courts (full size), and two football fields that can also serve as turf space for multi-sports. The facility will also have female and male changing rooms, seating for spectators, concessions and several versatile rooms that can be used for education and meetings.
