The South African operating arm of Fuchs Lubricants recently introduced customers to the brand-new and extended Isando facility.
In an event simply referred to as a “customer day”, buyers of Fuchs lubricants were given an inside picture of how the new location operates and what it offers.
Manufacturing Executive for Fuchs SA, Thami Mzolo, has been working on the Islando project since he first joined the company at the beginning of last year. He commented that out of all the upgrades and plant builds he had been involved in, the endeavour was by far the most efficient.
In 2020, Fuchs focused on creating capacity by purchasing neighbouring land, and in 2022, completed constructing a new head office and warehouse at Islando. The all-new warehouse was 4.5 times larger than its predecessor – significantly decreasing operational congestion and enhancing storage for packaging, raw materials and finished products.
Managing Director for Fuchs SA, Paul Deppe, commented that the purpose of the “customer day” was to highlight the increased capacity and new facilities on site. Along with new technology, Fuchs wanted to showcase its level of automation, integration and control with its new software system designed by SAP ERP. The streamlined solution integrates key business functions in one system.
Fuchs also showcased its grease plant on the far side of the facility that was originally commissioned back in 2018. The plant has proved instrumental for Fuchs SA to supply high-performance lubricating grease to its customers operating in an eclectic mix of industries. Well-trained workers and hardwearing systems guarantee consistent quality and production.
