Oilfield services expert, SLB, recently announced it is teaming up with Malaysia’s energy giant Petronas for oil and gas projects in Suriname.

This new collaboration is designed to maximise the use of both business’ expertise in the energy industry, to potentially improve resource management and operational efficiency in the South American nation and its offshore territories.

The strategic partnership underlines SLB’s dedication to growing its presence in emerging markets.

Petronas is a state-operated energy company with many ongoing global initiatives for oil and gas. It also owns the internationally respected brand Petronas Lubricants, which serves a comprehensive array of sectors and applications with a range that includes hydraulic oil, slideway oil, cutting fluid, refrigeration compressor oil and coolant, among others.

For SLB, the collaboration with Petronas is a substantial step aligned with its aim to fortify its footprint in Suriname. Analysts agree that in the evolving global energy landscape, these strategic alliances are critical for companies seeking to capitalise on fresh opportunities and find their way amid market complexities.

Formerly known as Schlumberger, SLB is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and currently considered the most prominent oilfield-services company in the world. With a market capitalisation of around $82.17 billion, it mainly operates in the energy sector and focuses on supplying services and technology for drilling, reservoir characterisation, processing and production.

SLB’s commitment to diversified revenue streams and innovation, combined with its strong global income base, positions it well for future growth.
