US-based oil and gas major Chevron has announced a number of adjustments to its senior management team.

The current chief financial officer (CFO), Eimear Bonner, will move to become the president responsible for oil, gas and products. Bonner will bring her skills to ensure asset class quality, drive performance improvement by optimising the value chain, exercise discipline in capital allocation and ensure that operations throughout the value chain are reliable and safe. Mark Nelson will stay in his role as vice chairman but will have strategy and business development included in his role. He will look for opportunities to support growth in the long term and enhance Chevron’s competitiveness.

The current offshore president, Brent Gros, will take over responsibility for the company’s lower carbon operations as president for new energies. This includes technologies like biofuels, carbon capture, offsetting and hydrogen. He will replace Jeff Gustavson, who is in turn replacing Bonner as CFO. This will involve a variety of finance-related areas, such as global business planning activities, audits, treasury, tax and relations with investors.

Chevron, which also makes the Texaco grease range, is one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world. Its CEO and chairman, Mike Wirth, said about the changes:

“Mark, Eimear, Jeff and Brent bring a combination of operational expertise, strategic perspective and a proven ability to deliver results across our business. Their experience, judgment and commitment to excellence will help position Chevron for continued success in an evolving energy landscape.”

The changes will come into effect on January 1 next year.
