According to the country’s state-owned oil company, the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Libya’s oil production figure reached 1,438,560 barrels per day (bpd) this month.
The figure is the highest since 2013, and it takes the country close to its stated aim of producing 1.5 million barrels of crude oil daily. The country also produced 49,163 barrels of condensate on the same day, taking the total output to 1,487,723 barrels.
Libya has faced various setbacks in increasing its crude oil production, but the result indicates that it is on track. TotalEnergies, the maker of Total lubricant and metalworking products, announced in March that it had restarted production at the Mabruk oil field.
The NOC held a meeting in Tripoli at its headquarters. A news post on the NOC’s website said that NOC Chariman Masoud Suleman commended what the efforts of all local companies and employees had managed to achieve in their various roles and specialties. He also praised their relentless dedication and sacrifices in playing a vital role in achieving this level of production. He said this was especially important given the challenges currently faced by the NOC. He also complimented:
“…the directors of the relevant departments for their perseverance and careful follow-up of operations across the NOC’s oil fields and sites around the clock. He highlighted their quick response to developments, their efforts to overcome obstacles and challenges and their support for employees working on production platforms in different locations.”
Suleman also highlighted the importance of continuing these efforts to help revive the Libyan economy.
