US-based oil major Chevron has released the second episode of “The Energy Tailgate”, which seeks to present down-to-earth conversations about the industry.
Tanner Foust hosts the podcast. His career has involved being a television host, a stunt driver and a race car driver. A representative of Chevron said about the podcast:
“Each episode takes place on the tailgate of a pickup truck, where guests join Tanner for real conversations about the energy that powers everyday life: how we use it, where it comes from and where it’s headed. No jargon. No lectures. Just straight talk with the people closest to the work, sharing stories and insights.”
In episode two, Tanner hosts Andy Walz, Chevron’s president for midstream, downstream and chemicals. They talk about how a refinery works and how crude oil ends up in many products that we use on a daily basis. This includes the fuel that powers much of our transport and the oil that keeps vehicles running smoothly. It also includes products like Texaco hydraulic oil and slideway oil that are vital for many automated industries. Walz also explains why the cost of fuel can vary by location, how fuelling vehicles may evolve and how AI (artificial intelligence) is a major focus of the company’s pursuit of improved efficiency.
