Adding to its range of high-quality Mobil lubricants, ExxonMobil has launched a new high-performance lubricant for modern high- and medium-speed gas engines.
The new lubricant is specifically aimed at four cycle engines consuming fuels with corrosive materials like biogases and landfill gasses, which often contain materials like halogens and hydrogen sulphide that can cause extra wear on engines and increase the need for oil drains.
Prominent UK renewable power generator Infinis helped to develop and test the new oil, which is a high BN, 1% sulphated ash oil. In order to protect against damage from corrosive gases, the oil, which can be sourced through Mobil stockists, boasts superb reserve alkalinity to neutralise acids and reduce the impact on engine components, as well as lessening the need to decoke regularly
ExxonMobil Europe Energy Manager, Industrial Lubricants, Elisabetta Scossa, said about the collaboration with Infinis:
“Our partnership with Infinis has allowed us to more deeply understand the application issues that customers face, in order to develop the right solution. The result, Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra, should not only help to enhance productivity across landfill and biogas operations, but also improve engine reliability.”
The company claims that Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra reduces lost production from unscheduled downtime and helps lengthen intervals for oil drains, thus enhancing the overall availability of an engine.
Centre of Excellence Manager at Infinis, Stewart Wilson, also praised the highly constructive nature of the collaboration and said the new Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra oil will bring substantial benefits to the company’s operations.
