Speciality chemicals firm Lubrizol has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SIRIO to jointly advance microencapsulated nutritional solutions.
SIRIO is a China-based global provider of end-to-end solutions for nutritional products in the health and nutrition industry. US-based Lubrizol, meanwhile, uses speciality chemistry to develop sustainable solutions that help improve everyday life. Its Emkarate refrigeration lubricant range, for example, uses a synthetic polyol ester formulation to perform in environments where conventional, mineral-based refrigeration oil may not perform adequately.
The MoU is aimed at combining the two companies’ respective strengths to develop the next generation of consumer products for nutritional health. Lubrizol already has a branded range of microencapsulated ingredients that help improve stability, bioavailability and the sensory experience. It will supply technical support in various areas of the research and development process.
SIRIO will complement this with its own manufacturing experience in order to accelerate the development and commercialisation of new products.
Lubrizol’s senior director for global business, Kevin Song, pointed to the company’s proficiency with microencapsulation technology. He added:
“Our goal is to help customers differentiate their products through science-backed branded ingredients that deliver meaningful consumer benefits. By combining our ingredient innovation with SIRIO’s world-class formulation expertise and global manufacturing capabilities, we can accelerate the development of innovative nutritional solutions that raise industry standards and ultimately improve human health and well-being.”
SIRIO’s strategic procurement head, Zhou Qinggao, said he looked forward to the collaboration, saying it would enable SIRIO to assist brands in differentiating their products by enhancing their customer appeal and improving performance.
