Mobil has expanded its Mobil 1 range of motor oils with a new variant specifically aimed at light-duty trucks and sports utility vehicles (SUVs). The new Mobil 1 Truck & SUV synthetic motor oil is said to maximize engine performance and deliver exceptional engine protection, even for vehicles working in harsh conditions.

Light trucks and SUVs often work under tougher operating conditions than passenger cars, such as driving through challenging terrain or carrying or towing heavy loads. To compensate for this, Mobil says that Mobil 1 Truck & SUV has 10% more anti-wear and anti-sludge additives. Deposits or sludge can seriously harm an engine if allowed to build up.

While passenger cars have benefitted from using Mobil 1 New Life 0W/40 in their engines for years, the new formula has been specifically created to meet the needs of light-duty trucks and SUVs that run on petrol.

Michele Biamonte of ExxonMobil said about the new product:

“In launching this new formula, we’ve designed an extraordinary synthetic motor oil choice for truck and SUV owners. Knowing that nearly half of vehicles on the road today are trucks and SUVs, introducing Mobil 1 Truck & SUV synthetic motor oil was the perfect add to our ‘classic’ family line.”

The new oil will be firstly available in various viscosities (5W-20, 0W-20, and 5W-30). While the new product is probably aimed at the North American market initially, where light trucks and SUVs are more popular, it may also make it to other regions.
