Oil major Chevron has announced that it has elected Uriel “Ose” Oseguera to become its new treasurer later this year.
From November 1, Oseguera will take the role currently occupied by Navin Mahajan, who is retiring after almost three decades of working at the company. Oseguera will report to Eimear Bonner, Chevron’s chief financial officer. Bonner said Oseguera will bring a rich mix of expertise and company knowledge to the role, adding:
“His experience across corporate finance, capital markets and international business leadership provides a distinctive perspective on risk management, financial discipline and value creation. Coupled with strong relationships across the enterprise and sound judgment, Ose is exceptionally well positioned to advance Chevron’s strong financial position and long-term value.”
Chevron is a complex organisation that produces not only oil and gas but also additives, petrochemicals, transportation fuels and lubricant and coolant products under the Texaco brand. As treasurer, Oseguera will oversee the company’s treasury activities in areas like credit and risk management, capital markets, insurance and corporate finance.
Oseguera’s education includes a master’s from Saint Mary’s College of California and a business administration degree from California Polytechnic State University. He began his long-standing career at Chevron in 1990, going on to hold various leadership positions with responsibilities around the world. He is currently the company’s vice president for finance and business performance in the upstream business.
Bonner also paid tribute to Mahajan, who has served as treasurer since 2019. She said he could always be relied upon when the stakes were greatest and the challenges were the most complicated.
