With expert assistance from Certas Lubricant Solutions, the Castrol brand’s Hysol SL 45 XBB metalworking fluid has received approval from BAE Systems, the British military, aerospace and information security firm.
The landmark achievement has highlighted Castrol’s high-performance lubricants, designed for the most advanced and extreme operating conditions, but also Certas Lubricant Solutions’ unparalleled technical capabilities and customer-focused approach.
After an aerospace machining plant sought to enhance and review the metalworking lubricants used during its onsite production processes, clear goals emerged to improve fluid performance, drive better operational sustainability and streamline product use. This was all while ensuring complete regulatory compliance with established standards like REACH (British multinational aerospace, military and information security company) among other regulations.
As part of the initiative, identifying a metalworking fluid that effectively answered these strict demands became crucial.
Castrol’s Hysol SL 45 XBB soon surfaced as a valid candidate. A metalworking fluid already employed and trusted by multiple aerospace majors including Bombardier, Airbus, Safran and Boeing, the high-performance product formulated to be free of formaldehyde and boron supplied an optimal solution.
To get a product approval from BAE’s stringent standards is a complicated process, however. It requires substantial strategic oversight, logistical management and technical acumen. Fortunately, these are all areas that Certas Lubricant Solutions is known to excel at beyond other sector distributors.
On March 21 this year, BAE Systems officially included Castrol Hysol SL 45 XBB on its approved product list (AM00-00-01), marking a substantial milestone for Certas Lubricant Solutions and Castrol.
