Coolant Monitoring
At Oil Store, we supply a range of products that are indispensable when it comes to monitoring the performance of coolants. Coolants can be tested via insertion or incubation at a carefully controlled temperature, so that bacterial levels can be measured via consistent, reliable readings. This can help businesses comply with the latest Health and Safety Executive guidelines.
Coolant fluid can be tested via insertion of a PH strip, which will indicate the general condition of the coolant. A high level of decaying bacteria will cause a low PH value or decline in alkalinity, which is then indicated by a high level of acidity. A refractometer can also be a useful tool in testing as it can measure the strength of an emulsion. This gives the operator an accurate reading of the dilution present by indicating the percentage of water. It is therefore invaluable in ensuring that fluids are cut efficiently and economically, as well as to maximum effect.
Otherwise, dip slides can be used in conjunction with an appropriate incubator. A sterile medium which coats the dip stick absorbs some fluid, and this is then incubated under carefully controlled conditions to permit bacterial growth, which can then be measured.
We stock useful aids such as PH and dip slide sticks, refractometers and incubators for coolant monitoring. If you have any questions or would like advice before selecting, then please do contact our experienced Oil Store team.
