Castrol launches engine warranty scheme

Leading lubricant maker Castrol has launched a new scheme that will give vehicle owners access to a 12-month engine warranty when they have an oil change with Castrol oils at independent workshops.

Castrol, which also makes industrial lubricants and metalworking fluids, says that many customers favour franchised workshops because of the reassurance given by the warranty cover they offer. The new scheme will enable workshops using Castrol engine oils to offer a similar warranty at no cost to themselves or their customers, helping them to enhance customer retention and satisfaction without financial risk. The warranty will last for 18,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes sooner.

Customers who have their vehicles serviced at participating workshops can register online for the warranty. Any claims are also made online, after which customers will be contacted by their workshop to arrange an inspection of the vehicle, either in the workshop or at home if the vehicle is inoperable. The workshop then sends a quote to Castrol, which says it will then respond in five working days.

Castrol’s head of indirect channel marketing, Layla Yebaile, said about the new scheme:

“This new warranty scheme means independent workshops can offer their customers a tangible additional benefit for having their car serviced using Castrol oil. There is no financial risk to the participating workshop should there be an issue with the engine following a service or oil change.”

She added that the scheme gives independent workshops a means to stand out by giving their customers additional peace of mind.
