US oil and gas company Chevron has reached an important milestone at its South N’dola Platform situated in Angola.
December saw the drill site based in Block 0, one of Angola’s abundant offshore reservoirs, deliver oil for the first time. At present, the block supplies around 12 per cent of the Central African nation’s daily energy production.
President for Chevron’s offshore operations, Brent Gros, commented that the achievement at the South N’dola Platform was the latest instance of the company’s continuing work to maximise production from its current assets in Angola.
Chevron making use of available capacity in its existing infrastructure has afforded cost-effective and efficient development of the oil and gas field. The South N’dola platform employs a tie back facility that supports field-to-production activities. The tieback is connected to the Mafumeira site close by, where the gas and oil the platform outputs are processed before being pumped to a terminal for effective export. This method helps eliminate any need for gas and oil processing equipment on the South N’dola Platform.
Chevron is an international oil and gas operator that also produces lubrication solutions through its Texaco Lubricants brand. Offering a comprehensive suite of products, it provides options like air compressor oil and heat transfer fluid (HTF) alongside other lubricants.
The company has now been conducting business in Angola for over seven decades. Today, it operates two separate tracts in the nation’s offshore territories: deep water Block 14 and Block 0, via the Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, one of its subsidiaries.
