US oil major Chevron announced that from November 1, its new vice president for exploration will be Kevin Mclachlan.
He will take over from Liz Schwarze, who, after serving there for 36 years, will retire in the coming February, and oversee the company’s worldwide exploration program, based out of Houston.
Chevron’s upstream president, Clay Neff, emphasised how the exploration business will benefit from Mclachlan’s contribution, saying how he adds:
“…an experienced energy executive with extensive experience, and a strong record of leading and driving exploration organisations to achieve industry-leading performance and value creation. Liz’s career has touched multiple aspects of Chevron’s portfolio, and I’m grateful for the contributions she has made to Chevron over the course of her career.”
Neff continued by saying how in every location and unit she has worked, her collaborative leadership has always enhanced business outcomes.
Chevron, which also makes the Texaco grease range, is one of the foremost energy companies in the world. In addition to making natural gas and crude oil, it is also a big player in fuels for transport, lubricant products to keep industrial equipment moving and petrochemicals, as well as additives. It also technologically advances to improve not just its own business but also the wider industry.
McLachlan has worked with carbon capture and storage (CCS) in addition to exploring internationally for gas and oil and developing discoveries for production. He studied at the University of Calgary for an honours programme and earned his Bachelor of Science in Geophysics. His previous employers include ExxonMobil, Murphy Oil Corporation, TotalEnergies SE and Nexen Inc.
