There are so many common hydraulic mistakes that are made on a regular basis, that we have put together another article, highlighting some of the most-common things you might be doing wrong when dealing with hydraulic equipment. Read on to avoid these common problems:
Bad troubleshooting techniques
One of the most common complaints from those who are tasked with troubleshooting hydraulic problems is that they do not have enough time to complete the task thoroughly. It’s important that this is avoided, as thorough troubleshooting is an extremely important part of fixing any problem, and getting your equipment running at optimum.
When a problem with your hydraulic machinery occurs, it is vital that information is gathered to work out which part of the equipment is causing the issue. This means a number of tasks, including checking for excess system heat, and checking the drain flow of the pump case, will need to be carried out. Not only that but schematics should be consulted, to ensure that any checks or work that are carried out are done correctly – even if locating the schematics may be time consuming.
Of course, having the schematics readily available near the system, under a cover, so that it can be seen and protected, will mean that it is always right on hand when a problem occurs and it is most needed.
It is also important that the person who is tasked with rectifying any hydraulic problem has the correct training to deal with the task at hand, rather than whichever electrician is available.
Using the wrong component replacements
When a hydraulic fault occurs, it is often the case that one of the components has failed. When this happens, it is absolutely vital that the part numbers of the old components match those of the new components – it is not enough for a component to look similar because this does not always indicate that it is the same, and that it will work well in the machine.
Every single letter and number of a part number gives an indication of one of its features, so if even one letter of number of the new component differs from the old one, you might have a problem on your hand, which is why you should consult the manual to see what the difference is and if it will have an impact.
