Petro-Canada Lubricants launches EV product range

Electric motor

Leading lubricant brand Petro-Canada has introduced a range of fluid and grease solutions aimed specifically at electric vehicles.

Petro-Canada has long been a trusted supplier of lubricant solutions like hydraulic oil, heavy-duty engine oil and transmission oil, which help their customers get the most out of their equipment. Recently, though, it has been working with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to develop the new EVR range to support the next generation of high-performing technologies for EVs.

Petro-Canada Lubricants’ global segment manager for transportation, Alex Buczek, said that the new product line would help fleets, OEMs and consumers to realize the benefits that electric transport has to offer, adding that it was now providing its partners:

“…with solutions for EVs based on our existing high-performance technologies. Our drive to continuously innovate has led us to launch EVR, our first brand of uniquely formulated fluids for EVs. We’re looking forward to supporting the development of technologies that drive the reliability and performance of EVs.”

The new line is split over three aspects of EV technology: EVR Driveline, EVR Thermal Management and EVR Motor Greases. These supply OEMs with solutions that feature improved power transfer, material compatibility and performance, so they can focus on advancing their battery, axle and driveline technologies.

Petro-Canada Lubricants belongs to the Advanced Fluids for Electrified Vehicles (AFEV) Consortium set up by the Southwest Research Institute. This consortium strives to understand the unique demands that electric vehicles make on coolant, lubricant and grease, so drivetrain designs and fluid formulations can be optimised accordingly.
