Upstream oil and gas sector operator Petra Energy Bhd (PEB) recently secured a contract from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, a Petronas owned subsidiary. The company will now supply Pan-Malaysian services for offshore construction, modification and maintenance as well as commissioning and hook-up.

In a recent filing with Bursa Malaysia, the operator stated that the contract it was awarded was for a five-year term. However, the agreement also includes the option to extend the contract for a further five years, with the new term comprising a three-year extension plus an extra two years.

As the national oil and gas company of Malaysia, Petronas is dedicated to safeguarding and managing the Asian country’s hydrocarbon resources to guarantee national energy security and optimise value. Its subsidiary, Petronas Lubricants International, is also renowned for formulating and supplying functional fluids and lubricants for different sectors and industrial applications. These include Petronas Tutela coolant, and Petronas Arbor lubricants for the agriculture industry.

A spokesperson for Petra Energy commented on the recent contract, stating:

“The contract entails the provision of MCM and HUC services for PCSB in Sarawak.”

Separately, the company added that one of its subsidiaries had also secured multiple contracts for hook-up and commissioning, construction, maintenance and modification services from several other companies alongside the agreement with Petrona. These included SapuraOMV Upstream Inc (Sarawak), JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration Limited (Malaysia) and ROC Oil Sdn Bhd (Sarawak).
