American chemical company Quaker Houghton has showcased a number of its products at the 112th meeting of the Galvanizers Association at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In the production of steel, surface treatments are used in finishing processes to improve readiness for a strip’s ultimate use. For example, adding a transparent layer to inhibit the formation of white rust on steel strip coated with zinc or zinc-alloy acts as an effective surface treatment. Quaker Houghton, a world leader in industrial lubricant products and process fluids, sells a range of products with thin organic coatings and passivation chemistries for surface treatment, with these satisfying process requirements through hexavalent and trivalent chromium technologies, as well as chromium-free technology.
In addition to showcasing these products along with its maintenance cleaners, Linfeng Gou, a Lab Manager at Quaker Houghton, gave a presentation on zinc surface chemistry as part of the conference sessions.
In a press release from the company, Quaker Houghton describes itself as the world leader for industrial process fluids, adding:
“With a robust presence around the world, including operations in over 25 countries, our customers include thousands of the world’s most advanced and specialized steel, aluminum, automotive, aerospace, offshore, can, mining, and metalworking companies. Our high-performing, innovative and sustainable solutions are backed by best-in-class technology, deep process knowledge and customized services.”
