The European Base Oils and Lubricants Summit 2024 was recently held in Madrid, Spain. The 15th edition of the event presented by Active Communication International (ACI) ran from Wednesday, November 20 to Thursday, November 21 and gathered leaders and experts working at the forefront of the lubrication industry.
The two-day symposium featured a roster of 14 specialist speakers led by Basestocks Customer Technical Support for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME), Erdem Kok of the Exxon Mobil Corporation (parent company of the Mobil lubricant brand) and Technical Manager at Nynas AB, Thomas Norrby.
Delegates attending the summit in Spain were offered a diverse range of presentations, case studies and panel discussions to immerse themselves in and update their knowledge. These scheduled events covered a wide array of pertinent issues impacting the base oils and lubrication sector, including increased digitalisation in the lubrication industry, more sustainable lubrication products, emerging technologies and more. Panels featured thought leaders and industry pioneers providing innovative solutions and fresh market insights.
Key topics covered at the conference included, but were not limited to: an overview of the EU’s lubricant and base oil market; re-refined oils, navigation of policy and regulations; lubricating grease; coolant; naphthenic base oils; bio-based oils and the newest wave of technology.
Other subjects dealt with in-depth consisted of wind turbine lubrication applications, new developments for feedstocks in the years to come, and guidance for businesses on how to drive and adopt more sustainable practices for lubrication throughout their operation.
