Following formal approval from the G+ Annual General Meeting, France-based TotalEnergies has become the latest G+ group board member, which is the offshore wind industry’s global organisation for health and safety.
There are 13 major operators in the G+ group, along with a large number of associate members. The bigger players include well-known names in the energy industry, such as Ørsted, Equinor, BP, Siemens Gamesa and EDF Renewables. Based out of the Energy Institute, the group endeavours to reach ever higher levels of safety by providing guidance on good practices, holding workshops on safety, reporting data about incidents and ensuring that lessons are learned from such incidents.
Nick Wayth, the Chief Executive of the Energy Institute, said the addition of TotalEnergies reflected the progress being made in the group, adding:
“…I’m pleased to see major industry player TotalEnergies bolster its commitment to health and safety by joining the G+ ranks. Bringing together the key stakeholders across the offshore wind sector, G+ continues to lead health and safety collaboration, upholding best practice and shining a spotlight on HSE performance.”
TotalEnergies operates a number of large-scale windfarms around the world as part of its transition to becoming a net-zero business by 2050. It also produces versions of its Total Carter gear oil, Total Equivis hydraulic oil, and Total Ceran grease for the wind industry.
