The Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team, Blood Cancer United and the Valvoline Global lubricant brand have joined forces to increase awareness about paediatric blood cancer.
The three organisations will use the popular NASCAR race series to reach millions of fans. A unique paint scheme was developed for the No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet to be driven by William Byron, a NASCAR champion. Four survivors of paediatric blood cancer were involved in the design, which features imaginative elements like confetti and unicorns to represent their happiness.
The car design was officially unveiled at a ceremony in Charlotte, North Carolina at a children’s hospital ahead of its racing debut. Byron attended the ceremony, along with Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick from Hendrick Motorsports. The CEO of Valvoline Global, Jamal Muashsher, said that at the company they:
“… are driven by an enduring purpose to inspire and enable what – and who – moves the world forward. Our work with Blood Cancer United is a testament to this commitment, and we are honoured to continue supporting this worthy cause to create a better tomorrow for these children and their families.”
The car will also make an appearance at the headquarters of Valvoline Global in Kentucky.
Despite its strong American roots, Valvoline is a global lubricant and coolant brand with customers in more than 140 countries and over 80,000 distribution points. It claims a 160-year-long legacy of innovation, including developing the first branded motor oil in the world. It also specialises in industrial solutions and benefits from the backing of energy giant and parent company Aramco.
