
Today, Castrol is among the world’s top lubricant brands. The BP-owned company recently launched a brand-new product line called “Castrol Cyltech” that is specifically designed to serve two-stroke engines in the marine industry.
Three products, “140f”, “100f” and “70f” make up the upgraded range for slow-speed marine diesel engine cylinders. The lubricants are blended by employing carefully selected additives and a high-quality base oil.
The solutions are engineered to minimise the formation of unwanted deposits on piston rings, pistons and cylinder liners, with the aim of potentially decreasing the operational effects of wear. Furthermore, the refreshed range supplies sound oxidative and thermal stability.
The Castrol Cyltech 140f and Castrol Cyltech 100f are specially developed with advanced additives and quality base oils to protect components against corrosive forces in the latest fuel-efficient marine engines. However, Castrol Cyltech 70f has been engineered to facilitate high performance for modern marine engines operating at higher pressures and temperatures. It is also designed to protect and clean engines.
Castrol’s marketing manager for Global Marine and Energy, Eda Gökay, commented:

The new Castrol range has undergone more than 75,000 hours’ worth of field testing to reach approvals from JEC, WinGD and MAN ES. Both Castrol Cyltech 100f and 70f have been approved by leading makers of crosshead engines, and Castrol Cyltech 140f is expected to receive those same levels of approval by the end of the year.
