Fuchs addresses mobile crane lubrication importance

Freddie Eloff, sales representative for Fuchs Lubricants South Africa, recently spoke out on lubricants for mobile grease.

He explained that mobile cranes are complicated machinery items used today in a wide range of industries, from logistics to constructions. Often working in extreme environments, in South Africa, cranes must also cope with a wide range of loads from 30 to 1,200 tonnes. As a result, for seamless operations and extended lifespan, the specialised equipment requires high-quality lubricants.

Fuchs has therefore developed, and continues to deliver, a complete range of lubrication products tailored to mobile cranes and their specific needs. Eloff commented on why bespoke lubricants are so important for the machinery:

“Mobile cranes, like any heavy machinery, require specialised lubrication in their engines, gearboxes, hydraulics and transmission systems. Our offerings are designed to cover all the essential components, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.”

He stressed that hydraulic systems are central to crane functionality. The right hydraulic fluid can help stop stuttering, reduce wear and tear while maintaining steady pressure. However, cranes also have powerful gears that need strong lubrication for daily work.

As a result, Fuchs designed hydraulic oil and synthetic gear oils to meet mobile crane demands.

Fuchs has also developed a range of lubricating greases called RENOLIT that suit mobile cranes working in all environments, which lets booms retract and extend efficiently. It also offers an eco-friendly white grease called STABYL TA that promotes proper application due to its high visibility feature. For mobile cranes working in the harshest conditions that the South African climate presents, Fuchs has also developed a black grease called RENOLIT FLM 2 that effectively reduces mechanical downtime.
