Castrol returns as sponsor for South African race event

BP-owned lubricant brand Castrol recently confirmed it will return to the South African Rally-Raid Championship (SARRC) this year as title sponsor for the Neil Woolridge Motorsport team.

The company will partner with Ford South Africa for the 2025 season, and brings with it decades of expertise in creating high performance products from synthetic gear oil to heavy-duty grease. Castrol’s parent company bp will also join as sponsor for the team, contributing its cutting-edge fuel “bp Ultimate”.

Castrol Africa’s Marketing Director, Jennifer Heyes, commented that the partnership between Neil Woolridge Motorsport and the lubricant maker was a strategic alliance designed to enhance the competitive edge and capabilities of the rally-raid team. She added:

“Castrol, a global leader in lubricants, brings to the table its cutting-edge technology and expertise in our high-performance products like Castrol EDGE. This collaboration promises to push the boundaries of what is possible in the demanding arena of rally-raid racing.”

Ford South Africa’s General Manager, Tarryn Knight, cited the company’s successful partnership with the motorsport team that has endured for almost three decades while enthusing about the new support. He stated he was delighted to welcome bp Ultimate and Castrol as Neil Wooldridge Motorsport’s title sponsor.

The upcoming racing season promises a showcase for both endurance and innovation. Leading the team backed by Castrol and Ford are the 2023 rally-raid champions featuring navigator Boyd Dreyer Gareth Woolridge as the driver behind the wheel of the Castrol NWM Ford Ranger Ultimate.
