Leading lubricants manufacturer ExxonMobil has announced that it will be opening a new production plant in Jurong, Singapore, as part of the expansion of its Asia Pacific operations.
The new plant will be used for the manufacturing of synthetic lubricants, among them the Mobil 1 range of engine oils that represent the firm’s flagship product.
Once it opens in two years’ time, the plant will help meet a rising Asia Pacific demand for the company’s synthetic lubricants, and will be the sole facility in this region to be manufacturing products in this range – including Mobil 1 New Life OW/40 and Mobil 1 Racing 4T.
The company’s lubricant sales director for the Asia Pacific region, Bennett Hansen, said that opening the Singapore plant would allow it to meet the needs of customers in the future, adding:
“The new Singapore facility will employ innovative manufacturing technologies, demonstrating the company’s commitment to bringing premium products and technology to the market.”
This new facility, which will be situated adjacent to the existing ExxonMobil Jurong site, will be the fifth to produce the Mobil 1 range and will enhance its capacity for the manufacturing of specialties and lubricants within Singapore.
The company has already been expanding its site for integrated petrochemicals and refining, and the planned new plant will be joined by one for the manufacturing of grease. This expansion comes as analysis from Kline and Company found that demand across Asia Pacific for synthetic engine lubricants is set to rise by over 8% during the next decade.
