Detailed information about a proposed wind farm in Perthshire, which could lead to the construction of turbines measuring 80 metres, is set to be made available to local people next month.
These plans will be on view at Kirkmichael, Bridge of Cally, Blairgowrie and Alyth, showcasing the projected Green Burn wind farm, which would be built at a multimillion-pound cost.
The planning application for this project has been submitted by ABO Wind, an onshore wind development company, and the hope is that the 11-turbine facility can be constructed at Blackhall Farm and Shieldrum Farm.
This site lies next to an existing wind farm at Drumderg, and turbines of 80 metres hub height and 126.5 metres tip height would be placed there, with ABO Wind having originally intended to construct 14 of these.
A company spokesperson stated that the information days for the public formed part of a process of consultation that it has been conducting over the past two years. He added
“This process also included public exhibitions held during February in the surrounding communities, displaying the initial details of the proposal.”
If it goes ahead, the Green Burn wind farm will have benefits for other industries in the UK, such as those that supply the lubricants like Mobilith SHC 220 needed to keep the turbines operating smoothly.
ABO Wind has also confirmed that it has created a community benefit scheme to which it will provide £165,000 a year for the next 25 years. This can be used to finance community projects.
