Fuchs acquires Swiss lubricants manufacturer

Leading global operator in the lubricant industry Fuchs Group recently announced it has completed its acquisition of STRUB & Co. AG.

This takeover of the lubricant maker is part of Fuchs’ strategic plan for expanding its business interests in Switzerland.

STRUB & Co. AG dates back to 1921. It is a family-run enterprise headquartered in the Swiss municipality of Reiden. The company is a developer, producer and distributor of speciality products and industrial lubricants for Switzerland, but also operates globally.

Following its successful acquisition of the Swiss company, Fuchs aims to secure direct access to the Swiss lubricant market, combining all its business activities in Switzerland and extending its presence with a new production plant and research facility.

However, Fuchs plans to continue operating using the STRUB brand with Marcel and Diana Strub remaining as members of the firm’s management team. For the Fuchs Group, Dr Mario Gehrlein will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). During the last two years, Dr Gehrlein has served on the E-Lyte Innovations GmbH management board, a company in which the Fuchs Group has a stake.

A comparison of the two companies in terms of scale and revenue for the fiscal year of 2023 shows that STRUB & Co. AG generated sales of around 15 million euro and employed a staff of 40 people.

Fuchs, on the other hand, achieved sales of approximately three and half billion euro and employed around 6,200 people. It is currently the largest independent lubricant solution supplier of in the world.
