Components in rail transport are greatly affected by lubrication in terms of their efficiency, reliability and service life. Kluber will now be highlighting the significant connection between vehicle and rail at the upcoming InnoTrans 2024.

This covers lubrication of the wheelset’s shaft and bearings. Kluber has closely cooperated with Schaeffler Technologies to generate concepts for a new generation of products; for example, Klubersynth BHE 46-403 is a new bearing grease for wheelsets that has been certified as compliant with the rail industry’s current specifications.

It’s also important to adapt base oils to suit particular applications; for example, the requirements of a heavily laden freight train will differ from those of a high-speed passenger train.

The head of Kluber’s team for the global rail industry, Julius Fuchs, said that the company and the rail sector had been steady partners for a number of years already. He added:

“Our tried-and-tested specialty lubricants for rail transport include our gear oils, switch lubricants and the new wheel bearing grease. The exchange between operators and our experts is of crucial importance for the continuous development of specialty lubricants for specific applications. InnoTrans offers us an ideal forum for this.”

Together with Dr. Frank Fiedler and Bert Rosenheinrich from Schaeffler Technologies, Julius Fuchs and Heiko Stache, also from Kluber, will speak at the InnoTrans 2024 Speaker’s Corner about what’s coming next for wheelset bearing grease. The forum will take place in room hub27, beta 6-7 at 3pm on Thursday, September 26.

Attendees can also book an appointment to consult with Kluber experts through the company’s website.
