At WindEnergy 2024, global lubricant specialist Kluber will showcase two new products aimed at increasing the efficiency of wind turbines by extending their maintenance intervals.
First, to refresh the vital features of its GEM 4-320 N gear oil, Kluber has specially developed its new LifeTime Extension (LTE) Booster Concentrate. When added to the existing oil, this product reinforces the additive mix in it to ensure that the gearbox and bearings continue to be protected, the anti-foraming properties are maintained, and the gear oil ages more slowly. This in turn delays an oil change by up to 50%.
Second, the company has also created the Klubersynth BEM 48-1501 rescue grease. It’s often not possible to conduct a repair in the short term when rolling bearings become damaged, and the next scheduled maintenance may still be some time away. When this product is added to the operating fluid, its additives, select solid lubricants and high-viscosity base oil provide further protection for metal surfaces that have become damaged, thus allowing continuous operation until an upcoming scheduled maintenance.
Kluber’s head for the global wind energy business, Daniel Narnhammer, said:
“A reliably functioning technology is an absolute prerequisite for wind energy to fulfil its promise of generating energy as a resource-friendly form of energy. At Kluber Lubrication, we have a range of proven products for wind turbines, which we are continuously developing and optimising.”
He added that an ongoing discussion with customers helped the company to develop new services and products to further optimise the performance of assets and minimise their operators’ costs.
