Shell Lubricants and BMW AG have announced a partnership which will see the global engine motor oil and lubricant giant supply all aftermarket engine oils to an array of BMW brands. As well as being used for standard BMW and MINI models of car, the flagship BMW I and M class will recommend Shell as its supplier worldwide.
From the beginning of next year, Shell’s premium range of engine oils will be made available to customers in BMW and MINI showrooms throughout the world. All territories the brand operates in will be covered, including the UK, China and the US.
Shell Lubricants will also produce BMWs own range of engine motor oils, specially made for the optimum performance, applying leading-edge tech under the deal, according to the statement released by the Dutch/British lubricant firm.
Shell will use its PurePlus Technology to create the branded products, which has been the realisation of more than four decades of development. The process, patented by the firm, sees natural gas converted into a clear base oil – improving the quality of engine oil across the board.
The executive vice president of Shell Lubricants, Mark Gainsborough, said the firm is “honoured” to take on the role of BMW’s recommended aftermarket oil supplier.
Mr Gainsborough went on to explain the tie is a confident recognition of the benefits of using Shell products in the most highly specced and developed engines in the world. He added that the deal acknowledges the value of Shell’s most recent PurePlus innovation.
Underlining the commitment that both Shell Lubricants and BMW AG have to producing the best performing products for those who rely on them, Mr Gainsborough said that the deal also underpinned the high level of service both firms have in common.
