Shell and Ducati to extend partnership

Motorcycle

Shell Lubricants and Ducati have announced that their global partnership is to be extended by a further three years.

Shell has been collaborating with Ducati for 25 years already, with it supporting the Ducati Corse racing team in the Superbike World Championship and later Ducati’s MotoGP team.

Shell will continue to provide lubricants for filling motorcycles at Ducati’s Thai and Italian factories, along with oil changes at Ducati’s dealerships in Italy, the Benelux countries, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, the United States, Portugal, Japan, Canada, China and Australia.

Francesco Milicia of Ducati Motor Holding said the renewal would enable the companies to continue working together on developing ever-greater performance products.

Speaking for Shell Lubricants, Vice President Aysun Akik said about the extended partnership:

“The extension of our collaboration is testament to the strength of our 25-year relationship with Ducati, and will see us continuing to take the learnings and innovations from the racetrack to deliver better road-going products for the benefit of Ducati and Shell customers around the world.”

Shell, which also makes commercial vehicle oil and passenger car engine oil, will collaborate with Ducati on developing new lubricants for performance motorcycles. The Shell Advance Ducati engine oil is the result of previous collaborations.

According to Shell, this oil can deliver a gain at full power of up to 3.5 horsepower. All Ducati’s MotoGP and Superbike bikes use formulations based on Shell Advance, with lessons learned under the demanding racetrack conditions often feeding into the development of new retail lubricants.
