Known for producing industrial lubricants ranging from gear oil to cutting-fluid and coolant, oil and gas giant Shell recently made its debut into a brand-new market.

For the first time in history, the leader in global energy technology has expanded into the personal care industry in Thailand. The company has launched a brand-new product called “Shell Silk Alkane” that utilises its advanced gas-to-liquids technology.

Executive Director for lubricants at the Shell Company of Thailand Ltd, Mr. Kamolpat Baholyodhin, commented that as the number one market leader for lubrication in the world for over 19 years in a row, Shell is continuously building on its leading position outside of the energy sector.

He said that the company was dedicated to applying its capacity for research and technological expertise to produce new opportunities across various sectors. He added that the Thailand release of Shell Silk Alkane was a key milestone in progressing gas-to-liquids technology into raw materials of high quality for the rapidly expanding personal care and beauty market, with a firm focus on sustainability, safety and quality.

The new product from Shell reaches rigid safety standards, features pharmaceutical-grade purity and is designed to be eco-friendly. It is completely odourless and colourless while being free from mineral oil, heavy metals and silicone. Multi-purpose, it is an emollient, solubiliser and skin conditioner that provides lasting hydration.

Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients has officially been appointed as the first distributor for Shell Silk Alkane in Thailand.
