ExxonMobil set to launch energy-saving guide for injection moulding

ExxonMobil has developed a new guide that it claims will assist plastics companies in optimising their injection-moulding processes and saving energy.

The new guide, titled An Energy Saving Guide for Injection Moulding Companies, was compiled in collaboration with Dr Robin Kent, an expert in energy management in plastics processing with decades of experience in injection moulding and extrusion, and Applied Market Information. The guide will be initially launched through a webinar on the 12th September, which interested parties can register for online. Following the event, participants will be able to download the free guide.

Representatives from ExxonMobil will also be distributing the new guide at stand E88 of Interplas, the UK’s leading plastics industry event, which is being held at the NEC in Birmingham from the 26th to 28th September. Experts will also be on hand to discuss how their range of high-performance industrial lubricants can help plastics processors realize operational, financial, safety, and environmental improvements through maintenance strategies and well-lubricated machinery.

Among the detailed suggestions for how energy savings can be made, the guide indicates that hydraulic efficiency can be increased by up to 6% by switching from a conventional hydraulic oil to an advanced oil like Mobil DTE 10 Excel 32. This is based on tests under controlled conditions that showed a 6% increase in hydraulic pump efficiency when replacing a hydraulic oil from the Mobil DTE 20 series with its equivalent from the Mobil DTE 10 series.
