ExxonMobil starts road trip to prove its new motor oil

Through its Mobil stockists, ExxonMobil has long been delivering high-performance lubricants with long drain intervals. To demonstrate its claims about its new Mobil 1 Annual Protection motor oil, however, the company has launched a 20,000-mile round trip around 48 states in the US, involving a variety of driving conditions, without an

oil change.

When it comes to manufacturers’ claims about lubricants, some people may take them with a pinch of salt when it comes to actual running conditions. After all, different driving conditions and styles can affect oil life. ExxonMobil brand manager Benjamin Pinkert said about this:

“That’s why we are delighted to launch the ultimate real-life road trip to demonstrate Mobil 1 Annual Protection motor oil can actually last 20,000 miles. No labs or simulated environments – just the open road.”

He added that the company was excited to be showing the United States how they can save time and money with this new product.

Before beginning the road trip, the two vehicles, a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium and a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox LS, were examined and provided with the new oil. A typical oil change is usually recommended about every 5,000 miles, so there will be four “pit stops” along the route where oil samples will be taken and analysed to prove that the oil is still providing vital protection to the cars’ engines. During these, the public will be able to discuss the new oil’s benefits with Mobil engineers and meet NBA and NASCAR stars.
