New IOGP director appointed

A leader in the oil and gas upstream industry, Iman Hill, has been appointed – effective immediately – as the new Executive Director of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP).

The IOGP positions itself as the voice of the world’s oil and gas upstream industry. Its members have operations in all regions and account for close to half of the world’s hydrocarbons production. The organisation has been headed for the last five years by Gordon Ballard, who will soon step down. He spoke fondly of his association with the IOGP and said Hill would bring everything necessary to improve the IOGP further.

Hill has decades of experience working within the oil and gas industry, with her having occupied leading roles in companies like Shell and BP, which also owns the Castrol lubricant brand. She said that despite the challenging period for the oil and gas industry, it is her firm belief that:

“We have the right values, mindset and the right people not only to get through the current crisis but to strengthen our role in the future energy landscape. Innovation and digitalization will be key enablers to achieve this, and IOGP will continue to drive and support these developments.”

Fawaz Bitar, the chair of the IOGP, said the organization was lucky to recruit someone with Hill’s credentials, experience and energy, and he expressed his confidence that she would further improve the position of the oil and gas industry as it transitions toward a future with lower carbon emissions.
