Chevron has launched a new commercial vehicle oil under its Texaco brand. The company claims that Texaco Delo 600 ADF significantly reduces clogging in diesel particulate filters (DPFs), so much so that DPFs can be expected to last up to 2.5 times longer between regeneration intervals when using the lubricant in heavy-duty commercial vehicles, as well as off-road vehicles that are fitted with DPFs to meet Stage V emission standards.
Even when compared with many other low-ash products, the new engine oil is said to halve the build-up of ash thanks to the additives in Chevron’s OMNIMAX technology. When Texaco conducted a survey among operators using EURO-6 engines, two-thirds of respondents reported issues in the emissions system, with DPF blockages accounting for 29% of these cases. The new oil should drastically mitigate these problems.
Texaco says the new oil protects the system – not just the engine but also the emissions subsystem. It adds:
“Suitable for both on and off-highway application, Texaco Delo 600 ADF with Chevron’s patented OMNIMAX technology, is formulated with only 0.4% sulphated ash—far lower than the API and ACEA limit of 1% sulphated ash, as found in many current heavy-duty engine oils.”
The company also claims the oil can deliver fuel-efficiency improvements of up to 3%. This comes thanks to a longer interval between fuel-consuming regenerations and reducing the back pressure that results from clogged DPFs. Delo 600 ADF also boasts longer oil change intervals, and testing has revealed that engine wear is substantially reduced.
