What are white oils?
White oils are mineral oils that are stable, exceptionally pure, meticulously refined, odourless, colourless, chemically inert and entirely non-toxic. These qualities make them ideal for multiple applications that value such attributes, including pharmaceutical firms, cosmetics manufacturers and companies conducting chemical processing. The name “white oil” is in fact a misnomer, as they are crystal clear and not white in any way, leading to them be described as “water white”.
White oils can be created from a range of different feedstocks, dependent on the processing approach employed. These initial materials involve conventional oil stocks for older processes, such as acid treatment and Vacuum Gas Oils for the more modern method involving two stage hydrotreating. Whichever process is used, both will create a colourless, odourless and tasteless oil. Every attribute that could potentially have a detrimental impact on its purpose – like sulphur, aromatics or other such impurities – have been removed, producing a pure product with thermal stability.

To produce this level of purity, the manufacturer uses an advanced processing method that works to remove any impurities in the oil that could potentially hinder performance – this is known as the Hydrotreating Purity Process.
