Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 230 is a high quality lubricant, formulated for use with refrigeration compressor and heat pump equipment. The formula contains no wax, and includes fluid hydrocarbon polyalphaolefin (PAO). This creates a high level of resistance to degradation caused by extreme heat or oxidation.
This formula is very fluid, even at lower temperatures, and the shear stable viscosity is high. Unlike standard mineral lubricants, this oil’s performance is assured even in extreme conditions.
In use with refrigerants, Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 230’s miscibility and solubility is low. This creates an improved level of film thickness, even in intense conditions, which can result in less shaft seal leaking. The increased stability eradicates the ‘light end stripping’ which may happen with mineral-based oils.
This lubricant can help to improve machine efficiency and lower frictional loss. It is very compatible with raised temperature refrigeration compression systems and evaporator systems operating at reduced temperatures. The oil is perfect for compressors using carbon dioxide, R-12 or other CFC refrigerants – particularly ammonia – but should not be used with sulphur dioxide.
Mobil’s Gargoyle Arctic SHC 230 may be used in combination with alternative mineral products, although this could detract from this specific product’s high level performance.
