Just in time for the resumption of top-league football in Spain, Valvoline has entered into a new multi-year partnership with Sevilla FC. Under the agreement, the Valvoline branding now features on the sleeves of the first team players’ shirts, as seen in the club’s first match again Real Betis on June 11.
José Castro, the chairman of Sevilla FC, expressed the club’s pride at having Valvoline as a sponsor for the next three seasons.
The agreement will provide the club with valuable additional revenue in what has proved to be a difficult time for professional sport in general. In return, Valvoline will have the opportunity to promote its branded products—which include industrial products like compressor oil and grease, as well as automotive lubricants—to a European audience. Valvoline was already engaged in sports sponsorship, having sponsored the Royal Challenger Bengaluru cricket team of the Indian Premier League.
Jamal Muashsher, a senior vice president at Valvoline International, said about the new partnership:
“Valvoline has a rich and storied history including being the first trademarked motor oil brand in the U.S. We are excited to partner with another original in their industry in Sevilla FC to bring two brands together that share a never idle spirit and passion for winning.”
The announcement was made just as preparations were being made for the return of La Liga matches in Spain. Like elsewhere in Europe, matches are being played without spectators, although simulated crowd noises and virtual fans are being employed to enhance the viewing experience.
