The local arm of energy giant Shell has partnered with three companies in the Philippines to provide solutions to help them reduce the carbon footprint of their construction activities.
Shell has signed separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with CEMEX Holdings Philippines, Inc., Green Antz Builders, and Roadex Construction Corporation, which are engaged in construction ventures and the development of road infrastructure.
As part of the agreements, Shell will be providing low-carbon solutions like its bitumen, which can help to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the sector as it builds the country’s infrastructure. Shell will also be providing its advanced lubricants to reduce emissions and improve the overall productivity of equipment, as well as offer access to fuel solutions and a programmes for compensating carbon emissions.
According to Shell’s manager for the road and construction business in the Philippines, Allan Canedo, Shell:
“…intends to support partners on their sustainability journeys by working with them on developing fit-for-purpose solutions and providing integrated offers across the supply chain, which will contribute to reducing emissions.”
Lorelie Quiambao-Osial, the country chair for Shell, said that the new partnerships were:
“…in line with our aim of putting sustainability at the heart of our strategy which is powering progress for the nation.”
